Thanks to every one that answered my Q.I have met great gal on line..I’m just back from LA after spending 5 weeks at her place in long beach.we got quite well..even spoke about getting married…I would like to work in the building game thats what I do in glasgow as well as buying property to fix up then rent out.I have a few property’s in glasgow at the moment…
Are you thinking of marriage because you want a Green Card or because you love the girl? It may make a difference because divorces in California can be draconian for the male.
Also, check out what you need to do building work. As an employee you will need a visa or Green Card (neither easy to get). But if you are planning to set up on your own, then be aware that to be a contract builder in the USA I believe you have to be licensed.

Short term lets in Glasgow?
I am looking to rent a flat or house in Glasgow for no more than 2 months, however, hotels and serviced apartments are too expensive. Do you know anyone that would do a short term let?
have a look on www.gumtree.com go to the glasgow page and the flats offered. they may not be advertised as short term lease but if the number of people who viewed the add is over 300 then the add has been on for a long time and they would take anything they can get
need some help regarding RENT and BILLS?
im currently a student, who is planning to move into my own flat with my partner, he is not a student, the rent is £395 a month and the being a student i need to know every single shilling that will be wanted from me so i really dont have a clue what is meant by ”the bills and council tax are low’ – the flat is in glasgow almost city centre, anyone with examples of their own bill paymets would be GREAT!
Your landlord should be able to tell you how much the council tax will be monthly, as far as your electricity, gas , well that will depend on how much you use. You need to work that one out yourself. If it is a card meter then you should be able to judge what you use weekly, and same with the other. If your partner is employed then his wages will be taken into account if asking for a council tax rebate (as you are a student, you may be considered for one) I would ask at the council tax office where you stand. No harm in asking about a rent rebate either. Contact your local DSS they should be able to tell you more. Good Luck.

How do you rent to DSS/Asylum seekers?
Is it just a matter of advertising and letting them contact you? Or do you register with your local authority? Glasgow property if it makes any difference
I would strongly advise you to rent via a property letting agency for your peace of mind, they’ll handle any problems that might arise and ensure your property is safe.
Since you haven’t mentioned contracts and legal housing agreements I think this will be your best option.
Fineholm who’s office is in Bath Street, I think, or at least one of those streets running up by Central Station on the Argyle Street end have a pretty good reputation.
Will the Credit check affect my application?
Im looking to rent a flat through an agent in Glasgow, they will carry out a credit check will this affect my application coz my rating aint brilliant?
Yes it will – they will check employment details, salary, bank details and previous landlords references as well as the electoral role and other things.
Ohhh and if you have a sniff of a CCJ in your backround, we would reject you.

Mutual exchange of flats, help?
I have a Glasgow housing association flat, 2 bedrooms, been here for 6 months and get housing benefit so rent is always paid on time.
I know someone who is also with GHA, 2 bedroom flat, rent always paid on time, in a different area.
We were wanting to know if we could exchange/swap houses?
And if so, how we go about doing this?
Cheers!!
I did this before (9years ago, things may have changed).
Ring your housing association. Im sure that this wont be a problem as your not up/down grading – Simply moving area.
Give them a ring. Things will become clear.
GoodLuck.
